The City of Olean’s Youth Bureau and Recreation Department’s Fall/Winter After School Program will start up Tuesday, September 4, at the St. John’s Youth Center, 921 North Union Street. The program will run Monday-Friday, from 3:30-5:30pm.
The program will provide healthy snacks, activities that include basketball, ping-pong, air hockey, board games arts and crafts, and more. Homework help will also be provided, along with special holiday parties and events.
Sign up now for the Olean Family YMCA’s Adult Volleyball League, starting up in September, and the Youth Basketball Program, starting October 20. The Volleyball League is for players ages 16+…the youth basketball program is for kids ages 4-13.

Star of the East, Chapter 109, Order of the Eastern Star will meet on Tuesday, September 25, starting at 7:00 at the Bolivar Masonic Hall. Past Matrons and Patrons will be honored. Donations to the Bolivar Food Pantry and Bath VA are appreciated.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department is offering a Hunter Safety education class for the gun portion only on Wednesday and Thursday, September 26-27, from 4:40-9:30pm both nights. The classes will be held at Camp Allegany, in Allegany State Park. A map is available for download on the registration page.

Registrations are being taken for the Bradford YMCA’s Corporate Challenge 5k run and 2-mile walk. The event takes place Thursday, September 27, starting and ending at the Callahan Park Small Pavillion, from 5-8pm. $20 per person registration fee gets you a promo item, refreshments and live entertainment. The 41st Salamanca-Seneca Falling Leaves Festival takes place Friday-Sunday, September 28-30, with many events in and around Jefferson Park. For a list of events and times, contact the Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce
A benefit Craft/Vendor event will take place Saturday, September 29, from 9:00am-4:00pm, at the Limestone VFD Community Center, 616 Main Street.
Over 30 vendors and crafters will be set up, along with over 100 items in a Chinese Auction, and other fundraisers. There’s also kids events, and some adoptable animals from the SPCA will be there. A donation box for supplies will also be set up.
The event is being organized by J&J Animal Products and Foxy’s Pet Foods and Supplies…proceeds benefit the SPCA of Cattaraugus County.
