The City of Olean’s Youth Bureau and Recreation Department’s Fall/Winter After School Program will start up Tuesday, September 4, at the St. John’s Youth Center, 921 North Union Street. The program will run Monday-Friday, from 3:30-5:30pm.
The program will provide healthy snacks, activities that include basketball, ping-pong, air hockey, board games arts and crafts, and more. Homework help will also be provided, along with special holiday parties and events.
The ACCORD Head Start program in Allegany County is currently accepting applications for Children ages 6-weeks to 5 years old.
Classrooms are located in Wellsville, Friendship, Cuba, Belfast and Bolivar…home-based services are also available. Call their ERSE Specialist to schedule an application appointment at (585)268-7605, extension 1525.
The Genesis House Homeless Shelter of Olean invites the public to take part in Luminaria Night, set for Thursday, December 20th. Luminaria Kits are now available for sale, at $10 per kit. The Bolivar United Methodist Church holds a “Warm Yourself” Outreach Program on Saturdays from 11:30am-1:30pm…come in an get a free bowl of soup and a beverage, and free winter clothing-no questions asked.
The Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department holds its annual Christmas Cookie House on Saturday, December 16, starting at 9:00am, until all is gone. purchase hand-made cookies and other treats for $7 per pound. The Fire Hall is located on Route 59, across from the FCI-McKean Facility
The regular monthly meeting of the Olean Public Library’s Board of Trustees will take place Wednesday, December 19, starting at 5:30pm at the library’s conference room. The meeting is open to the public.
The Richburg Firemen’s Christmas Food and Merchandise Auction takes place Saturday, December 22, at the Firemen’s Clubhouse on Griffin Street. The doors open at 2:00, with the auction starting at 4:00. Irish Mike is the auctioneer…the event benefits the Fire Department.
